Usually that means a bad or dying bulb, but the bulbs are fine, and I even replaced them with my spares just to make sure it wasn't a weak bulb. It only does it when I go to make a right hand signal (left turn works
The turn signal switch is what controls your turn signal when you click the knob to either turn right or turn left. If the switch isn't working, it's not going to send the correct signal to power the ball to blink accordingly. There may be a mechanical problem or a wiring problem. If there is a mechanical issue it will likely be a clock spring
Power is routed there between the brake pedal switch and the turn signal flasher circuit. When the turn signal is not being used, power goes to the brake lights. When the signal is used on either side, power to the brake light is interrupted by the switch. You can get a diagram and test the pin-out connections on the switch for verification

I drove about 400 miles that day and made 3 stops and shutting down the engine at every stop. After the last stop I noticed the right turn signal indicator was functioning normally.
